Erie News Now has learned the Downtown Erie Hotel, which was shut down for code violations in February, is now listed for sale for $1.5 million.

The listing company is Sherry Bauer Real Estate.

The hotel, on 18th St. between State and Peach, is described as a 133-unit, full-service hotel on two parcels totaling nearly three acres.

The listing said it includes a restaurant-bar which could be renovated and reopened and makes it clear that 33 of the rooms are now not in service.

The other 100 it says were renting for $59 to $67 per day.

When code enforcement shut it down and forced a handful of people to move out, the big issue was the roof was falling apart, causing water damage on several floors and leakage into the electrical panels.

According to the realtor, the property is eligible for tax abatement programs and investor incentives such as LERTA or federal opportunity zones.
