The City of Erie Fire Department is looking to add members to their firefighting squad. Applications opened April 15th and will be accepted though May 31st.

Perks of joining the brave men and women who keep our community safe include:

•Starting salary of $45,908 (raises to $76,514 after 36 months)

•A vested pension after 12 years (457b and 401a plans available)

Schedules are typically 24 hours on and 72 hours off. Firefighters get paid time off including holiday, sick, personal and vacation time.

There are a few qualifications needed: you must be between the ages of 18-65, have a high school diploma or GED, complete a background check and live within 15 miles of City Hall within a year of being hired.

Applicants will be required to pass a few tests as well (FPSI written test and CPAT). Written tests will be held July 13th at LECOM. There is a $30 application fee and a $20 study guide fee.
