Big honors today for a Fairview man.

He was named the 2019 Pennsylvania Substitute Teacher of the Year.

Kelly Services today presenting the award to longtime Fairview special education substitute teacher Joe Weidenboerner.

He has been subbing for the past ten years, working with special education students in elementary, middle and high school.

Today he received a certificate, $300 and a gift bag.

Joe says he finds the work rewarding and enjoyable.

He said,"Coming in and trying to help students improve themselves is fun for me. i think education should be fun. It does include a lot of work."

Joe beat out more than two dozen substitutes from all over the state to win the award.
