Millcreek Police Make 'Major Drug Bust,' Seize Marijuana-Related Items
Undercover Millcreek Police officers seized a whole collection of different marijuana-related items Tuesday in what they are calling a major drug bust.
The items included suspected bags and jars of weed to slabs of THC wax to marijuana vape devices and roughly $188,000 in cash.
Erie County District Attorney Jack Danieri announced Parth Bhatia, 24, has been charged with a total of six felonies related to possession with intent to deliver, and criminal communication.
This bust was the result of a joint operation through the Erie County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, which includes Millcreek and Erie departments
According to Danieri, the investigation began in Millcreek but did provide a specific timeline. Investigators had met with Bhatia several times to buy marijuana undercover. Their most recent sale on Tuesday lead to a search warrant being issued for Bhatia's home at 520 Kawka Blvd.
"It's because there was a lot of groundwork done beforehand, you don't get a search warrant to go into a home unless you have the probable cause to do so," Danieri said. "You don't have the probable to get that search warrant unless you satisfy the district judge that there's some evidence that came before it."
"I'm proud of the efforts of our officers to conduct these investigations." said Millcreek Police Chief Scott Heidt
"The detectives that worked on this worked hard and it was a great result this time." Erie Police Chief, Dan Spizarny said
Bhatia’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 23. He is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
Erie News Now spoke to two neighbors on Kawkha Boulevard, they told us they were 'surprised' and 'shocked.'
This investigation is ongoing.
