Conneaut Valley Health Center Breaks Ground to Replace Fire-Damaged Facility
A new Conneaut Valley Health Center is being built at the same site as the original that burned down 14 months ago.
Borough and Health Center officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday to officially kick off the construction of the new center.
The new 6,800 square foot building is expected to cost an estimated $3.3 million.
Patients in the area have been going to other locations for their health care and dental needs since the fire.
"It's not the same as being able to go to your local center your local dentist and receiving those services," said Michael Downing, CEO of community health services at Meadville Medical Center. "Bringing the facility back to them is going to definitely help them, and I think they'll be glad to see it."
The building should be completed in January.
The Health center hopes to add space, so Crawford Area Transportation Authority's (CATA) buses can come through. The building will also have extra space for a tenant such as a bank or pharmacy.
