(ERIE, P.A. - WICU/WSEE/CW) – A recently-closed Corry area ice cream shop is now re-opening its doors, with new owners, and a new vision.

KC’s Ice Cream, located at 13283 US Route 6, in Corry, had its soft opening Friday night.

The new store replaces the TJ’s Ice Cream Parlor, which had been in business for many years, and closed earlier this year.

Owner Jon Maker told Erie News Now, this new store includes all locally-sourced food, from burgers and fries, to of course, the ice cream.

"I tell you, it's just been a fun experience, It means a lot to the community.” said Maker” When [TJ’s] closed down, they [the community] were kind of sad, so for us to reopen it, we've received a lot of buzz from the community."

Maker, who operates a landscaping business, says it was always his dream to open an ice cream store. And when he was offered the space, he says he could not pass it up.

The store will have its official opening on Saturday at 11 a.m. From there, it will be open through November, Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.  Maker says the hours could shift over the summer.
