The Erie County Conservation District hosted a tour for local and state legislators Thursday.

The tour was part of "Enviro Lab" Week at Headwater Park. Students from Clark Elementary attended the event, which showcased mobile environmental laboratories.

The labs are set up for local students to get hands-on learning about agriculture, water and forestry.

Representative Curt Sonney, Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and Millcreek Twp. officials joined the students to learn about the environmental education program.

"When they [local officials] make decisions in their boardrooms, to keep conservation districts in mind in their decision making and show them the activity and the day to day that happens here," Tom McClure, Erie County Conservation District Manager said.

The conservation district wants to see similar education programming throughout the commonwealth.
