A Pennsylvania man is recovering from injuries he suffered when he encountered a booby trap while riding a bike on the back mountain trail.

Dave Bass was riding his bike Wednesday evening on the popular back mountain trail when he encountered a rope deliberately strung across the Luzerne Borough portion of the trail.

He hit the rope and flipped his bike, suffering numerous injuries, including those to his shoulder, elbow and hip.

"I saw what I thought was a dangling downed power line, something like that, and then a boom, I hit a rope," said Bass. "Somebody had tied a rope across the trail from a tree to a large rock. It caught my bike and flipped me to the ground real hard. I hit my head and crashed on top of the bike."

Luzerne Borough Police are asking the public for help in tracking those responsible.
