The Erie KOA Kampgrounds in McKean has been attracting campers since the early 1970's.

The current owners, Erwin and Jaye Keller have made plenty of improvements since they took over in 2006.

Erwin Keller  says he believes customer service is the key to the campground's success.

He said, "We just try to instill in our employees, you need to interact with the campers, acknowledge and help the campers and facilitate them with whatever needs they have."

The KOA has a wide variety of sites to meet the needs of their campers.

One hundred thirty two sites in all, many for recreational vehicles and tents, with grills and outdoor furniture.

But there are also three tee pees, some standard cabins and several deluxe cabins.

They feature kitchens and bathrooms to make camping a pretty comfortable experience.

Jaye Keller said, "People want convenience and they are willing to pay for it. And I don't think we could have too many deluxe cabins."

People also want amenities. And the KOA has a wide variety including a large pond for fishing, a swimming pool, a jump pad and recreation room.

Owners say most of the campers come from Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Buffalo.

The focus is on families. And many have been coming for decades.

Jaye Keller, "It is multi generational. they have been coming for 20-30 years."
