Erie Coke doesn't usually release a statement on any sort of issue, but an executive with the company is commenting on Erie News Now's special report about the plant.

The week long series "Erie Coke: Benefit or Burden" examines pollution violations at the plant and a campaign by citizens for Erie Coke to clean up its act or shut down.

In an email to Erie News Now, Ed Nesselbeck, Erie Coke Environmental Director, said the following:

"Achieving environmental compliance for Erie Coke, though challenging, will be doable. I just look for cooperation and patience from all the stakeholders. The plant didn’t get this way overnight and we will not achieve our goal by tomorrow. All the same, I am very optimistic."

The five-part series concludes Friday, June 28th at 6 p.m..
