Fire at Former Church in Warren Ruled as Accidental
Investigators say a late night fire at a former church in Warren has been ruled as accidental.
Calls for a fire at the First Church of Christ Scientist at 312 Market St. first came in around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
We're told the electrical fire started on the first floor in the rear of the building and spread to the attic.
Warren's Fire Chief tells Erie News Now his crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the building. It took upwards of an hour to knock the fire down.
No one was inside at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The church recently sold the building back in February 2019 to an accounting firm, which was doing renovations on the 150-year-old building.
The future of the building is now up to its owner and the Warren City Code Office.
