Seniors in our area have a new option to get a senior bus pass.

EMTA senior bus passes are now available at State Rep. Bob Merski's office at 3901 Liberty St., Erie.

Previously, seniors had to go to the Intermodal Center on Erie's bayfront to get a bus pass.

"Any time you expand options for seniors or for people in general, it's a good thing for the city and for the commonwealth," said State Rep. Merski.

The passes are funded through Pennsylvania Lottery revenue and are issued free through EMTA.

"It's free around the state," said Jeremy Peterson, executive director for EMTA. "If somebody would travel outside Erie County, whether the Port Authority in Pittsburgh or SEPTA in Philadelphia, they're able to use that pass and gain access on that public transportation."

Rep. Merski's office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
