DEP Posts 3 More Violations Against Erie Coke

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today posted three air pollution violations against Erie Coke.
The violations occurred earlier this month. One violation occurred the same day as an Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board judge was listening to testimony on whether the plant should stay open.
Erie Coke is asking the judge to keep the plant open while the company appeals a DEP decision to deny Erie Coke's renewal of its operating permit. The judge's ruling is expected sometime after August 7. The DEP denied the operating permit renewal due to numerous air quality compliance issues.
The latest violations occurred on July 8, July, 9, and July 12.
