Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of yesterday's deadly fire in that West 11th street home that also served as a 24 hour a day, day care center.

Investigators still believe the fire was sparked by an electrical problem.

But Erie Police and Fire crews were joined by Pittsburgh investigators and federal agents to comb through the ruins of the building, trying to determine the exact cause.

Meantime, city officials say they found just one smoke detector in the attic, even though the day care was inspected by the state last December.

The city is now considering making rules requiring city inspections of all day care facilities.

Erie Fire Chief Guy Santone said, "We are going to work something up so that DHS notifies us where every day care is so this does not happen again. So we can inspect these places at least once a year."

Family members of day care owner, Elaine Harris, say she is in stable condition in a Pittsburgh hospital after escaping the fire.
