A special guest that swam to Erie's bayfront Wednesday morning now has a new name.

Meet "Quackers." It's the duckling of Mama Duck, who is known as the World's Largest Rubber Duck. The pair is part of the Tall Ships Festival that's sailing into town next week.

The name was announced on the dock of the Erie Maritime Museum after three names were written on plastic ducks wearing parachutes and dropped from the mast of the Lettie G. Howard. The first to land, Quackers, decided the baby's name.

The person who submitted the winning name will receive a prize from Widget Financial. It marks the end of a series of naming contests held by the credit union.

The 6-stories high, 11-ton "Mama Duck" will arrive with the Tall Ships Festival.

It starts Thursday, August 22nd, and runs through Sunday the 25th.

A dozen ships are expected to draw tens of thousands of people to the area.
