Pedestrian Crossing Five-Lane Highway Hit by Vehicle, Seriously Injured
A man trying to cross a five-lane highway in Vernon Township, Crawford County suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a vehicle Thursday night.
It was reported in the 18300 block of Conneaut Lake Rd. just west of Elk St. at 10:15 p.m.
A Ford F-150 truck was traveling east when the pedestrian - identified as Chase B. Snyder, 34, of Meadville - attempted to cross from the north side of the highway to the south side, State Police said.
Snyder was taken to Meadville Medical Center and later flown by helicopter to UPMC Hamot in serious condition.
The truck suffered damage to the hood, investigators said.
The driver of the truck - Barry A. Noble, 42, of Atlantic - was cited for operating a vehicle without an official certificate of inspection. Snyder was cited for pedestrians crossing at other than crosswalks.
