Sail Boating Safety Is Vital For Tall Ships Festivities
Sail boating can be a fun summer activity especially if you live next to one of the great lakes. As tall ship weekend approaches residents and sailors should still keep safety a main priority while participating in this year’s festivities.
According to CBS Pittsburgh: “The U.S. Coast Guard says the crew on a Lake Erie fishing boat rescued a man who had been clinging to his capsized sailboat for about 12 hours. Authorities say the crew spotted the man Monday morning about four miles off the shores of Port Clinton in northern Ohio.”
This event is being so closed to home reminded residents that sail boating can come with a risk.
Officials advise that you have access to a life jacket prior to departure and if you are planning on going out after dark it is best to have a flash light handy.
