Saturday was the perfect day for the 6th annual Victory Ride that pairs motorcycle riders with residents from Erie Homes for Children and Adults.

This started in 2013 when two separate residents had a chance to try a motorcycle ride in a friend's sidecar.

Agency volunteers thought this was such a great idea they organized an opportunity like this for more individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

It's now up to more than 40 with sidecar and trike owners who volunteer their time each year to create this special experience.

"Our residents are at the core of our mission," said Jonathan Rilling, vice president of marketing for Erie Homes for Children and Adults. "They want to feel the wind in their faces, and motorcyclists around Erie are very generous people."

They all took off from Shades Beach Park and returned afterward for a party, games and photos.
