All Summer long construction workers have been extremely busy updating parts of the Erie school district.

This Summer is just the beginning of an $80.7 million renovation plan.

New parking lots, football field, and school curriculum's are just a few of the many updates throughout the Erie school district.

"That's our goal is to keep them warm, safe, and dry in our buildings," says Assistant Superintendent Bea Habursky.

School officials tell Erie News Now that school renovations are ready for kids to start back on Tuesday.

The construction continues at Veterans Stadium and crews told Erie News Now the turf work will begin today and they will work throughout the holiday weekend.

Trade students got hands on experience this Summer putting in brand new flooring for a new multimedia room at Collegiate Academy.

"It's definitely great being out in the real world," says Junior Trade Student Cullen Drayer. "We really are getting to see what it would be like working and doing this and not just being in our lab."

The trade students at Erie High are honored to be trusted with such a big project.

"It builds a lot of pride", says Michael Trippi, Construction Trades Teacher. "They take a lot of ownership over it and it's nice to see the kids working together. They were given a once in a lifetime opportunity."

This is just the beginning for the schools renovation improvements.

"It's the first phase so over the next few years theirs going to be some great things so every year more new and exciting things will be happening," says Habursky.

The construction for Veterans Stadium will wrap up on September 13th and the schools multimedia room will be completed by the end of September.
