State Rep. Offers Tips to Protect Limousine Customers
Pennsylvania State Rep. Brad Roae is offering tips to protect customers in the wake of customer complaints against limousine rental companies operated by Matt Barnes.
Barnes' limousine rental companies are not registered with the Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC), which oversees the regulation and licensing of the industry, Roae said.
He encourages people to ask the company for its PUC license number and check the information by contacting the PUC's nearest district office before booking a limousine.
"The best tool to protect yourself against a scam is information," Roae said. "A few phone calls and a little research up front can save thousands of dollars and a lot of headaches in the long run."
He said the PUC website contains information, including procedures and an online system for filing a complaint, as well as contact information for the commission's offices.
Victims can also contact the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protect by calling 1-800-441-2555, Roae said.
