Country Fair is purchasing and redeveloping the former Sheetz store in Harborcreek, the company announced Wednesday.

The store, which is located on the northeast corner of Buffalo and Saltsman Rd., is expected to open in December 2019.

Country Fair plans to apply for a license to sell beer and wine at the new location.

The company, which already operates a smaller store on the same corner, plans to keep it open, as well.

“We recognize that the Buffalo Road corridor is vital to the economic vitality of Harborcreek,” said Paul Rankin, Vice President of Retail Marketing.

“We’re always trying to identify places in the community that could benefit from having a store,” said Rankin. “By repurposing this property, we can hire folks to renovate and rebuild, employ 30 more people right here in the neighborhood, and offer fresh, local products at a reasonable price.”

This will be Country Fair's 72nd store and its third in Harborcreek Township.

Sheetz closed its Harborcreek location at the end of April 2019 after nearly 14 years operating there. The company said it decided not to extend its lease because the location on Buffalo Rd. was no longer meeting sales expectations.
