An Erie martial artist will be vying for the chance to win $20,000 on national television Thursday night.

He will appear on the History Channel's 'Knife or Death' at 10 p.m.

A watch party for Dan and his family will be held at Presque Isle Downs and Casino. The party is open to the public.

Dan and his wife Hillary operate King Cobra Karate on W. 12th St. in Erie.

Before Weston applied to be on the show, his cousin had been the champion of the History Channel's TV show 'Forged in Fire,' where competitors had to create blades that would hold up after cutting through different objects and materials. Weston said he heard about the opportunity to be on 'Knife or Death' from watching the History Channel.

Dan told Erie News Now last fall he got the call telling him he made the cut just 10 days before having to start filming. At that point, he didn't have a blade for the competition. Luckily for him, his family reunion was around the same time, and his cousin was in town. With his help, they created a blade that he felt confident with in just seven days.
