Erie Coke is dealing with two new violations from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The DEP said the plant exceeded its allowable emissions level on two occasions - Aug. 29 and Sept. 22.

It all comes weeks after the DEP installed 13 air quality monitors around the plant, which is located on Erie's bayfront.

Erie Coke is involved in a court fight with the DEP over the renewal of its operating permit.

The DEP denied the company's initial request, citing years of air pollution problems.

The fight is not expected to return to court until sometime next year.
