Man Arrested for Fatal Overnight Shooting in Chautauqua County
A Jamestown, N.Y. man has been arrested in a fatal overnight shooting in Chautauqua County, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Julio E. Motanez, 25, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a shooting in the 100 block of W. Main St. in the Village of Sherman around 1:36 a.m. Sunday.
They found Justin M. Gibbons, 29, of Mayville, was found with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Sheriff's Office. Gibbons was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Gibbons and Montanez were involved in an altercation in alley way when Montanez pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds at Gibbons while he was attempting to leave in a vehicle. Gibbons was hit with multiple rounds, the Sheriff's Office said.
Montanez is being held in the the Chautauqua County Jail.
