People near a gas line that was hit in Venango County early Saturday morning had to be evacuated, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

It happened when an off-road utility vehicle in the woods hit a gas line near the intersection of State Route 8 and Harper Rd. in Cornplanter Township around 3:43 a.m., troopers said.

The crash caused the gas line to burst, and the fire department evacuated people within a five-mile radius, according to State Police.
