Mercyhurst University is celebrating a $1.5 million overhaul to its library.

University officials cut the ribbon on the Hammermill library Monday.  The facelift includes new glass display cases featuring historic documents and photographs.

The university is home to the archives of former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge. Michael Victor, president of the university, said the archives will celebrate the history of Tom and Michelle Ridge's legacy of service to the community, the greater community, the nation.

The library was completed just in time for the fall semester and was paid for through donations, according to the university.

The facelift puts an emphasis on collaborative space for students using the latest technology.
