We have an update on the Erie Catholic Diocese compensation fund for victims of clergy sexual abuse.

The application deadline passed in mid August, but fund administrators are still working, so final figures are not available.

However, we have learned, as of now, the diocese has paid out nearly $4 million to 32 different victims.

The payouts, or settlements, range from $5,000 to $400,000.

The diocese says 167 claims were submitted.

The fund was established in the wake of last year's grand jury report that identified about a thousand victims and 301 so-called predator priests across the state.
