Youth workers in the Erie community were recognized as part of an awards ceremony Thursday.

The sixth annual Youth Work Awards ceremony was hosted at Elevate Church near the Millcreek Mall.

82 youth worker nominees from the Erie area were recognized for their impact on the lives of the kids they work with. 13 awards were presented, including this year's Youth Worker of the Year.

The awards included a breakfast and kicked off with the help of Erie High School's marching band.

The ceremony was put on by Unified Erie, which aims to reduce violence by focusing on prevention, enforcement and re-entry.
