Locomotive manufacturer Wabtec plans to open its global headquarters in Pittsburgh.

The company that earlier this year bought GE Transportation, which includes the Lawrence Park plant, is preparing for a grand opening next week.

Wabtec said Pittsburgh's reputation as a technology hub is why they picked the city's business district for its new global headquarters.

About 250 employees will work at the Fortune 500 company's new global headquarters.

Its grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday.
