Local lawyers helped first responders and veterans today.
The Erie County Bar Association hosted its Wills for Heroes event in downtown Erie, drafting free wills for first responders, veterans and their spouses. Lawyers say wills might be just a few pages of paper, but they provide much-needed peace of mind.

"We want to make sure that they have their critical documents in place so that they feel secure and have their planning in place for their families' needs," said Melissa Schirey, one of the event’s coordinators.

This is the fifth year the Erie County Bar Association hosted a Wills for Heroes event. It’s part of a national campaign that started after 9-11.
