Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo was arrested Sunday morning by Uniontown Police on charges of simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment.

The Steelers linebacker was involved in a domestic situation with his girlfriend Ashley Newman inside their hotel room at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. According to area police, Chickillo and his girlfriend got into a verbal argument over table games in the casino

According to police, the argument became physical and Chickillo grabbed Newman by both arms and forced her against the wall and door. Chickillo then allegedly threw her to the ground causing injury

Chickillo claims the argument became physical because Newman hit him in the head.

Police say that Newman had visible redness on both arms around the bicep area and that bruising was beginning to form.

The Steelers said they are gathering information on the incident and will not comment further at this point.

KDKA in Pittsburgh is reporting that the team has instructed Chickillo to not report to the team as both the Steelers and NFL Office continue to investigate.

Chickillo was taken into custody and released on $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on October 30.
