Two experts in national security took the stage in Erie Monday, as the Jefferson Global Summit continued.

Former Governor and Erie native Tom Ridge moderated a discussion with Former Senator and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. Hagel served as a Republican Senator from Nebraska, then put politics aside to lead the defense department under President Obama.
The secretary says he's worried about US foreign policy and the way the country looks abroad.
He says poor foreign policy weakens national security.

"When the world sees the United States off balance and incoherent, that affects the world. There's no leader, and like anything else, there will become a vacuum, and something will fill that vacuum. China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, all of them combined?"

Several other nationally known speakers visit Erie for the summit this week. Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and columnist George Will both present this week.
