A suspect is dead after being shot by sheriff's deputies responding to a 'domestic-related' call in Ashtabula County, Ohio Thursday morning.

Police were called to a home in the 1900 block of E. 42nd St. in the City of Ashtabula around 7:10 a.m. and saw a woman inside yelling for help.

They encountered a man wearing a bullet-proof vest who had a shotgun, two other firearms and knives.

Officers told them man to put down his weapon, but he turned the gun toward the officers. That's when the deputies fired.

The suspect died from his injuries at the scene.

Another man, a woman and three children were also inside the house. They were not hurt.

It's not clear why the suspect was in the home. Investigators said the suspect was previously in a relationship with the woman and was the father of two of the children.
