The Erie community celebrated the service of America’s heroes at its annual Veterans Day parade.

The parade started on State Street by the veterans’ memorials---and processed south to the VA medical center.  People lined the route, coming out to thank those who keep us safe.
Erie News Now Senior Reporter Paul Wagner joined in the parade, passing out candy along the route.
A World War II veteran says he loves the yearly parade.

"We used to have the same thing in Binghamton, New York,” said Andrew Balog. “It's more less a short parade and everyone enjoys coming to see it."

This year’s parade went smoothly, unlike last year’s which was canceled because of snow.
