Erie Restaurants Serve Thanksgiving Meals for People in Need
Students from Mercyhurst and many restaurant employees sacrificed time with their families on Thanksgiving to give back to the Erie community.
Restaurants Calamari's and Dominick's both served warm Thanksgiving meals at no charge to people in need.
Dominick's on E. 12th St. has offered the meals for years. Owner Tony Ferrero said he cannot imagine spending Thanksgiving Day any other way.
Calamari's partnered with Mercyhurst for the tenth year to provide warm Thanksgiving meals. Jordyn Miklinski, the student leader handling the dinner, said she loved seeing so many students give up family time to come give back.
"Just seeing how grateful they are for something we take for granted is just really humbling," said Miklinski. "Being able to celebrate Thanksgiving with them is a really special experience."
Ferrero said he is so grateful knowing he serves almost 300 people every year.
