Two young men could face felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly kicking and stomping on a buck that was unable to stand.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is looking into a video that appears to show young men abusing the animal.

Online posts suggest the young men are from Brookville, though game commission officials won't yet confirm a location.

They say the investigation is in its early stages, but crews are already in the field, working to learn more.

If they decide to press charges, the consequences could be severe.

"There's a lot of different possibilities that are here, which I don't even want to speculate as to how far it could go right now, but it could be up to and including something like animal cruelty," said Chip Brunst, information and education supervisor for the state's northwest region.

Brunst has worked for the game commission for decades, but says this case is a first for him.

"This is my 31st hunting season with the game commission. It's the first time I've seen something like this," he said.

But he stresses that the video alone does not prove a crime was committed.

He says if charges are filed, the game commission will alert hunters on its Facebook page.
