Two people were killed and two others were hurt after a semi and a SUV collided Sunday afternoon in Mead Township, Warren County.

It was reported on State Route 6 near Mead Blvd. at 4:35 p.m.

A Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling eastbound on Route 6 when the driver - identified as Stephen C. Rothrauff, 39, of Tiona, Pa. - lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered, slippery road, according to State Police.

The Trailblazer began to spin and then slid into the path of a tractor trailer in the westbound lane, trooper said. The SUV was hit on the driver's side and continued to spin before it came to a final rest against a guiderail. It suffered heavy damage.

Rothrauff and a front seat passenger - identified as Jessica L. Camp, 32, of Tiona, Pa. - were pronounced dead at the scene. Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik told Erie News Now both were killed instantly by traumatic injuries.

A 15-year-old girl who was a rear seat passenger in the SUV was ejected and suffered serious injuries. She was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.

The tractor trailer suffered moderate, front-end damage. Its driver - Bryan T. Crabtree, 47, of Oil City- suffered a suspected minor injury, according to State Police. Erie News Now learned he was taken to Warren General Hospital for treatment.

The accident forced authorities to close Route 6 from Dutchman Run Rd. in Mead Township to the intersection of Railraod St. in Clarendon Borough. Traffic was rerouted for several hours. As of 8 p.m., Route 6 had re-opened to traffic, according to PennDOT representative Jill Harry.

State Police investigators said slippery, snow-covered roadways caused the crash.
