Area ambassadors for the census are coming off a training in Erie. They gathered at the Blasco Library on Thursday.

They are not they ones that will be going door-to-door to gather information from residents. But, they are the ones who get the word out in our area on why its imperative to complete the census. It equates to funding that comes back to region for federally funded programs.

Erie County Census Outreach Coordinator Michelle Jaggi, says, "That is approximately $2100 a year, every year for ten years, for each person who is counted. (It's) for programs like medicare, medicaid, the children's health insurance program, supplemental nutrition programs like SNAP and WIC."

Starting in March, information will be mailed to households, so that the census can be completed by April 1, 2020.
