DEMOCRAT ANDRE HORTON MADE IT OFFICIAL..ANNOUNCING A PRIMARY RUN FOR STATE SENATE IN THE 49TH DISTRICT.

 SURROUNDED BY SUPPORTERS AT PINEAPPLE EDDIES RESTAURANT, HORTON SAID HE'LL SEEK THE SEAT NOW HELD BY REPUBLICAN DAN LAUGHLIN. 

HORTON IS CURRENTLY SERVING ON ERIE COUNTY COUNCIL.

HE SAID HIS PLATFORM INCLUDES ISSUES LIKE JOB CREATION, PUSHING FOR GREEN ENERGY AND CONTINUING TO SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF A STAND ALONE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN ERIE, SOMETHING HE'S BELIEVES THE REGION NEEDS. 

"WE FELT THAT WITH THE MEDIAN INCOME AT $20,000, WITH THE HIGH LEVELS OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND WITH THE GROWING NEEDS OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMY,  WE FELT THAT NO OTHER AVENUE WOULD BETTER PREPARE US THAN A COMMUNITY COLLEGE", says Horton. 

ANOTHER KEY POINT IN HIS CAMPAIGN IS JOB CREATION, SOMETHING HORTON HOPES DO THROUGH GREEN ENERGY

COMING FROM A BACKGROUND OF SERVING AS A POLICE OFFICER, Horton PLANS TO USE THAT EXPERIENCE OF HELPING THE COMMUNITY IN HIS CAMPAIGN.

"ON A CAMPAIGN LIKE TODAY AND LIKE THIS, JUST MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PEOPLE. EVERYTHING I'VE EVER ACcomplished HAS BEEN THROUGH GRASSROOTS RELATIONSHIp WITH People", Horton explains. 

JULIE SLOMSKI FORMERLY OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE AND NOW WORKING FOR LOGISTICS PLUS IS EXPECTED TO ANNOUNCE HER CANDIDACY  ON THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET ON FRIDAY.
