Earthquakes are still shaking the ground in Puerto Rico, although not as violent as the ones last week.

Erie man Victor Irizarry was born in Puerto Rico, and his family was impacted by the recent earthquakes.

He said it has been 30 years since he has returned home, but following the earthquakes, he knew he had to go to the territory to check up on his sister and two nephews.

They have been sleeping in their car because their apartment is not safe.

Erie News Now Emily Matson traveled to Puerto Rico to meet Irizarry and his family and saw first-hand the conditions on the island.

Irizarry said help for the earthquake victims is mostly coming from Puerto Ricans themselves.

Erie News Now will have more on Irizarry's trip to Puerto Rico later this week.
