Ron DiNicola Not Seeking Public Office in 2020, Focusing on Community College Effort Instead
Ron DiNicola will not seek public office in the upcoming 2020 election and will instead focus on securing a community college for Erie County, according to an announcement made Tuesday.
DiNicola unsuccessfully ran for Rep. Mike Kelly's seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018. He lost the race by 4 percent of the vote.
Backers spent more than $2 million to support of DiNicola in the race.
His name has also been mentioned as a possible candidate for 49th district state Senate currently held by Dan Laughlin.
DiNicola is a co-founder of Empower Erie, the non-profit organization behind the push for a community college in Erie County.
