The Erie Parking Authority has begun making improvements to some of its parking garages.

Stairwell repairs started in early January and will be done incrementally to prevent disruptions.

Elevator design work is also in progress.

In November, the Parking Authority initiated and accepted bids for renovations as part of its ongoing capital improvement plan.

The $1.4 million in self-funded projects include:

  • Stairwell replacement and repairs at 10th St. garage, 3rd St. garage near UPMC Hamot and the 26th St. garage near St. Vincent Hospital
  • Redesign and structural repairs at the 26th St. garage
  • Elevator modernization at 26th St. garage

The work is expected to wrap up in August.
