Pennsylvania's Second Lady Gisele Fetterman will be bringing her statewide tour to promote the 2020 Census to Erie on Wednesday.

She will be stopping at the Blasco Memorial Library at 160 E. Front St. at 11 a.m. Feb. 12. The tour stop is open to the public.

The Second Lady and local Census officials will discuss the importance of participating in the Census during Q&A sessions and open panel discussions.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to travel Pennsylvania and talk with you about the importance of filling out your Census form, because these numbers will affect us all for the next decade,” said Second Lady Fetterman in a news release. “I’ve spent my career working to engage and empower communities. There is power in being counted. If you live in Pennsylvania, you matter to me and to the Census.”

The Second Lady announced the tour during a Census kick-off rally at the Capitol in January.

The U.S. Census is done every ten years to track increases, decreases and changes in community demographics. The Census numbers are used to decide representation and federal funding.

Residents are asked to respond to the form by mail, by phone, and for the first-time ever online. Most households will receive their census invitation in the mail by April 1, 2020.
