Safe to Celebrate? Experts Weigh in on Saint Patrick's Day Celebrations
With Saint Patrick's Day tomorrow and parades canceled all over the globe, is it still okay to go out to the bars to celebrate?
Experts say the actual droplets that spread the disease can go about 6 feet, so being in a crowded bar is not recommended.
While you might have plans to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day with friends at a bar, experts say being in a crowded bar is not recommended because bars have a lot of surface area, where the virus droplets could land.
For example: Tables, darts, and pool cues.
Dr. Becky Dawson, a expert from Allegheny College says it's best to stay home this year to celebrate, to keep yourself and others safe.
"We really do want to caution people about that and maybe think through how you could celebrate at home with a smaller group of friends, where people are healthy and you can kind of control the environment that you're in."
As of right now, most bars in downtown Erie are still open to celebrate.
