The world has changed dramatically over the last few weeks, and if you think it's overwhelming for you...think about how kids are processing all of this.

From going to school online, to seeing a lot of people in face masks, to not being able to see family and friends in person...it is a big adjustment for our little ones.

So, how do you explain it?

Most parents have likely had the initial talk about what's happening, but as COVID-19 continues to extend school closures and encourage social distancing, is it time to revisit the issue with kids?

We checked in with Dr. Becky Dawson — she teaches Global Health at Allegheny College. She told us it's important to be open and honest with your kids and let them feel like they have a role in the situation.

"I think being honest with kids is important, not scaring them that all these people are gonna die, but being really honest about their responsibility and that we're living through this historic moment as we begin to understand this new disease," said Dr. Dawson.

It's also important for us adults to make kids feel safe and encourage them to ask questions. We also need to remember that kids are resilient.

Dr. Dawson also said we should use this extra time with our kids to encourage conversation and creativity.
