All 16 Child Development Centers, Inc. (CDC) facilities in Erie, Crawford and Venango counties will remain closed until at least May 8.

The child care and early childhood education agency said the decision aligns with Gov. Tom Wolf's decision to extend the statewide stay-at-home order by one week earlier to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

All of CDC's head start and pre-K counts classes have already been canceled for the remainder of the school year.

CDC does not have a formal timeline on when it will re-open its Department of Human Services-licensed centers in Venango and Crawford counties, including tuition-based preschool, infant-toddler and school-age classrooms.

The organization said it will follow the advice of state and federal authorities, as well as medical experts, to make that decision.
