Erie Walmart Employee Tests Positive
An employee at the Walmart on Elm Street in Erie tested positive for coronavirus.
Now, we're learning what county officials and shoppers, think of the news.
County officials say the worker is at home recovering.
They say he or she didn't come into contact with too many people during their regular duties, so they likely haven't spread the virus too far.
Officials say the store has handled the situation well, and the elm street location was still open today.
County officials say the average shopper doesn't have too much to worry about.
Shoppers, though, say they aren't so sure.
"Since I found out, I have not been shopping here. I feel like that's a safety issue," said Amber Deboe. "I don't want to put me and my kids at risk."
"We do not have a confirmed number of individuals who have been sent home from the Walmart store,"said County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper. "But if you have not been contacted, then you are not considered high risk of contracting Covid-19 from that individual"
County officials say they've talked to Walmart's corporate headquarters, and they're confident in the way the situation is being handled.
