Throughout the country low income communities have been hit hard with the effects of Covid-19. Here in Erie, the Minority Community Investment Coalition has worked with the Erie county health department to slow the spread of the virus. The goal was to help vulnerable groups, such as minority and low income communities receive testing.

On Friday, free pop up testing sites were held at Joyce Savocchio Business Park and the Booker T. Washington Center for anyone to drive or walk up and get tested.

"The idea is to find out and give yourself peace of mind that you don't have the virus and will take it home and give it to someone else," said Executive Director of the Urban Erie Community Development Corporation, Gary Horton.

Over 70 people were tested at each site and they should expect results early next week.
