Erie News Now is asking you to support the Erie Zoo this Friday, June 5.
As a non-profit, the Erie Zoo relies on memberships, admission, concession sales, education programming, events and gift shop purchases for funding.
The zoo's closure due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has halted these proceeds, causing a financial strain.
All day long Friday, Erie Zoo Director Scott Mitchell and many of his wild friends will be joining us during our newscasts on Erie News Now from 6 a.m. through 11 p.m.
You will get to learn about some interesting critters and the impact of the zoo closure.
All the money raised will go to the Erie Zoo's Emergency Fund, which will allow it to offer top quality care to the animals that call the zoo home and further the mission of world conservation.
