Warren Outfitter Adapts to Changes During Pandemic

Allegheny Outfitters in Warren has made changes because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The business was closed for seven weeks, re-opening last month.
The company has beefed up cleaning and sanitizing inside the store.
And employees are giving extra attention to cleaning kayaks, canoes and life jackets used by customers who travel down the Allegheny River.
One big change involves transportation.,
The company still hauls kayaks and canoes.
But customers have to drive themselves.
Owner Piper VanOrd said, "We cannot find a safe way to pack 15 passenger vans every time with social distancing and trying to figure out how you would sanitize a 15 passenger van."
The business says following guidelines is very important to keep the Warren community safe because so many of its customers come from out of town.
VanOrd said, "We feel a real moral responsibility for keeping out community safe."
The good news is, with more people enjoying the outdoors during the pandemic, rentals have remained steady.
And equipment sales are up.
VanOrd said,"We've sold through kayaks, backpacks, and hiking poles at a very high rate."
